Troubleshooting
The handful of things worth checking yourself, and the point at which the right move is to stop and call someone.
What this page will not do
It will not diagnose your machine. A fault cannot be identified from a description on a web page, and guessing at one is how a working unit ends up opened. What follows is the honest ground: the ordinary situations that look like faults and are not, and the signs that mean stop.
The unit is discharging water on its own
That is almost always the automatic cleaning cycle, which every Leveluk in this catalogue runs by itself. Let it finish. On the K8, the water it discharges is not to be used.
A filter message is showing
A filter reminder is the machine asking for a service item, not reporting a fault. Fit a genuine Enagic cartridge — the K8's F8 is due about every 6,000 litres or one year — and follow the reset step described in your unit's manual.
Flow has dropped
Establish where the drop is before assuming it is the machine. Set the diverter back to the tap and run the tap normally: if the tap itself is slow, the machine is not the cause. If the tap runs normally and the machine does not, check that the diverter is fully in the processed-water position and that the filter is not overdue.
If flow is still low with a correctly seated diverter and a filter well within its interval, stop there and contact an authorized representative.
Nothing on the display
Check the outlet with another appliance, and check that the cable is seated at both ends. If the outlet is live and the unit stays dark, that is not a user-serviceable condition — unplug it and contact an authorized representative.
The water coming in is warm
Ionizers treat cold supply water. On the K8 the feed water must stay below 35 °C, per its operation manual. If the machine is fed by a mixer tap, set the tap to cold before engaging the diverter — and confirm the permitted feed-water temperature for any other model in that model's manual.
Stop using the unit if any of these appear
Switch it off at the outlet and contact an authorized Enagic representative. Do not open the housing and do not attempt an internal repair: there is nothing user-serviceable inside, and opening it is likely to affect your warranty.
- Water leaking from the body of the unit, or pooling underneath it
- A burning smell, smoke, or heat from the housing or the plug
- A damaged power cable, plug or socket
- A cracked housing, or a hose that has split
- The unit trips a breaker, or the outlet arcs
- Any message you cannot resolve from your unit's own manual
